Charlotte LaVonne (Olson) Toro, 94, of Ogallala, passed away peacefully on February 22nd, 2025, at the Indian Hills Manor in Ogallala, NE.
Charlotte was born April 12, 1930 to Herman and Bessie Stuehm in Ogallala, NE. She grew up on the family farm north of Roscoe, the same farm where she would one day raise her family. She attended school in the Ogallala school system.
After graduation she obtained her teaching certificate from Kearney State College. She taught school in the rural area south of Roscoe for several years. It was during this time that she met Daniel Olson.
She and Daniel married on October 10, 1948, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Paxton, NE. Daniel and Charlotte were blessed with six children.
Daniel and Charlotte owned and operated the “Bike Shop” as the family called, it for many years. It was here that they spent countless hours and had many fond memories with the grandchildren. When it was time for retirement, Dan and Charlotte enjoyed their time traveling and spending time with their family and grandchildren.
She and Daniel were married for nearly 47 years, when he passed away on September 29th 1995.
Charlotte remained on the family farm for several years until she met and remarried Joseph Toro on June 27th, 1998. At that time, she moved to town where she enjoyed her many friends and playing in her card club. She also enjoyed gardening, which showed by the many flowers on display in her yard and in her home.
Charlotte was preceded in death by her husband Daniel Olson, daughter Karen Poff, an infant daughter lost at birth (Diane), step-daughter Joan Toro Davis, her parents Herman and Bessie Stuehm, her parents-in-law Carl and Anna Olson, her husband Joseph Toro, her sister Connie.
Survivors include her children, Darrel (Mary) Olson of Kingsville, TX; David (Shelly) Olson of Ogallala, NE; Kent Olson of Roscoe, NE; and Kevin (Ophelia) Olson of Aurora, CO; Sister Eunice (Don) of Denver; 11 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
A memorial has been established in Charlotte’s memory to the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Ogallala. Condolences may be shared to www.drauckerfh.com
Visitation will be Wednesday, February 26th from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm with the family greeting. at the Draucker Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 27th, 2025 at 10:00 am at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Ogallala with Rev. Albert Bader of St. John's Lutheran Church officiating. Interment will be in the Ogallala cemetery.
