Bonna Jean Cerny, 86, lifetime resident of Arthur County, died July 18, 2017, in Indian Hills Healthcare of Ogallala. Bonna was born January 5, 1931, in Arthur County, the daughter of Adeline (McMullen) and Claude Johnson. She attended school in Keystone and Ogallala. On April 20, 1946, Bonna was united in marriage to Ernest Cerny. They ranched with Louis Cerny until 1962 when they moved to Arthur. Bonna was employed at Goodalls and TRW and was a hostess at Holiday Inn in Ogallala. Bonna attended Arthur Baptist Church. She served on the Arthur Village Board, was a manager of the Arthur Pool, was an active member of the Ogallala Elks Lodge #1760 Does, and was a member of the Sunny Seeders Garden Club. She volunteered at the County Fair Exhibit Hall. Her favorite pastimes included playing bridge and pinochle, reading, fishing, and gardening. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, son Kenneth Cerny, brother Claude Johnson, Jr., sister Mayme Darnell, and grandsons Steven Cerny and Darrell Cerny. Survivors include four sons: Terry, Rex (Carolyn), and Ray, all of Arthur and Joe (Janet) of Oklahoma City, OK. a sister Edith 'Punk' Steinhauser of Stuart and a brother Jim Johnson of Grand Island; twelve grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Sunday, July 23, from 1 to 5 p.m. in Draucker Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be Monday, July 24, at 2 p.m. in the Arthur Baptist Church. Rev. Mark Baldwin of the Paxton United Methodist Church will officiate. The Service will be live streamed from drauckerfuneralhome. com, for those unable to attend. Interment is in the Arthur Cemetery. A memorial has been established in her memory. Draucker Funeral Home of Ogallala is entrusted with the arrangements.
