Barbara K. Hahn

Barbara K. Hahn, 72, of Paxton, died Friday, January 29, 2016, at the Blue Valley Lutheran Care Home in Hebron, NE following a long battle with Alzhiemer's Barb was born October 26, 1943 in Hastings, the daughter of Lawrence and Matilda (Schutte) Erthum. The family moved to Ogallala when Barb was a child. She graduated from Ogallala High School in 1962 and attended Kearney State College. On March 19th, 1967 Barb was united in marriage to Harlon Hahn at the Lutheran Church in Paxton. The couple resided on the Hahn family farm south of Paxton and were blessed with two sons, Mark and Brent. Barb was a homemaker until the boys were out of school. She then worked at various places and enjoyed her time with her co-workers and customers. Barb was a member of the New Life Lutheran Church in Paxton. She and Harlon enjoyed the Ogallala Extension Club and she was very active with Compassionate friends following the death of their son, Brent. Barb and Harlon loved to dine out and watch movies at the theater. They also enjoyed traveling to Husker Football games and the Black Hills, snow skiing in Colorado and spent a lot of time at the lake. Barb loved to travel with her sisters and friends, she enjoyed working in her flower garden and she loved to shop. Barb's greatest earthly treasure were her granddaughters. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband Harlon, and son Brent Hahn in 1991 and brother-in-law Maynard Norman. Survivors include son Mark and his wife, Brenda of Paxton; sister Beverly Norman of Grant, sister Carolyn (Dave) Cadenhead of Swan Point, MD; brother-in-law Russell Hahn of Groton, NY and two granddaughters: Taylor Hahn of Lincoln and Brylie Hahn of Paxton, and a niece and several nephews. Friends may pay their respects and sign the register book on Thursday, from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm at the Draucker Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Friday, February 5 at 10:00 am in the Ogallala New Hope Church with Rev. Eric Wait officiating.
