Arlene D. Armstrong

October 30, 1920 — September 4, 2016

Arlene D. Armstrong age 95 of Ogallala died Sunday September 4th at the Ogallala Community Hospital. She was born October 30, 1920 in Exeter, NE to Ralph and Nellie (Hunt) Donahue. Arlene attended school at District 42 in Arthur County until moving to Ogallala were she graduated from Ogallala High School in 1939. She then went to work at the Keith County Court House as a secretary until February 8th, 1941 when she married Allen D. Armstrong in Harrisburg, NE. They made their home on a farm in Perkins County. Arlene worked for the weigh station in Brule for Great Western Sugar Company for many years in the fall. In 1999 they retired off the farm and moved to Big Springs. In 2009 they moved to Chappell, NE. Arlene then moved to Ogallala in 2015. Arlene, was a member of the Big Springs United Methodist Church, Jobs Daughters of Ogallala, Perkins County Extension Club, Daughters of the American Revolution, Perkins County Garden Club and the Perkins County Card Club. Survivors include: 2 Daughters: Beverly (Jerry) Baker of Westminster, CO. Connie (Jack) Barker of Knoxville, TN. 2 Sons: Roger (Elaine) of Ogallala and Mark (Michelle) Armstrong of Big Springs. 6 Granddaughters: Kimberley (Tom) Sarmir, Susan (Bryan) Forbes, Carey (Tim) Kercher, Amanda (David) Pfeiffer, Kandace (Alex) Footman, and Dixie (Timothy) Chilzer. 3 Grandsons: Jack Allen Baker, Adam (Autumn) Armstrong and Chase (Emma) Armstrong. 8 Great-Granddaughters: Samantha Sarmir, Abbey Barker, Reagan Forbes , Madelyn Kercher, Aria Pfeiffer, Meri Armstrong, Charlotte Armstrong, and Savii Armstrong. 2 Great-Grandsons: Matthew Forbes and Zander Footman. Arlene was preceded in death by her husband Allen in 2009, sister Lucille Rhoades, daughter Gloria Armstrong, and brother Dwight Donahue. Memorial Services will be Friday, September 9th at 10:00 a.m. from the Draucker Funeral Home with the Rev. Chuck Rager of the United Methodist Church of Ogallala officiating. Inurnment will be in the Ogallala Cemetery. A memorial has been established to the Big Springs United Methodist Church. Draucker Funeral Homes has been entrusted with arrangements.
