Alice 'Jeannie' Jean Thompson

Alice Jean Thompson, 86, of Ogallala, died Thursday, May 5, 2016, after a short illness at the Ogallala Community Hospital. Jeannie was born in Wichita, Kan., on May 26, 1929 and grew up in Oklahoma and Kansas. Jeannie married Wendell Deane Thompson in 1948. Deane and Jeannie and their children moved to Nebraska in 1956 before moving to Colorado in 1972. They owned and operated Atwood Truck Line in Thornton, Colorado. Jeannie moved to Ogallala, Nebraska in 2000 where she remained until her death. Jeannie was preceded in death by her son Douglas, her parents George and Alice (Sheppard) Snider, and her husband W. Deane Thompson, her granddaughter Melodee Crews, and her brothers Duane, Leonard, and Hubert and her sister Louise Bybee. Jeannie is survived by her five children, Diann Thompson of Billings, MT., Nicki Messersmith of Ainsworth, NE., Terry (Debe) Thompson of Ogallala, Barbara Schwerin of Fort Collins, Colo., and Gregory (Joanne) Thompson of Thornton, Colo., and one brother Merle (Lucille) Snider of Augusta, Kan., 10 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. Graveside Services will be Saturday, May 7, at 10 a.m. in the West Lawn Cemetery at Gering, Nebr. Rev. Bob Manasek of the St. Francis Episcopal Church will officiate.
