Virginia Baird, age 84, of Big Springs, NE, passed away Thursday, November 14, 2019 at the Indian Hills Manor in Ogallala, NE.
Virginia was born February 21, 1935 in Wisner, NE to Bernard and Myrtle (Christensen) Von Seggern.
Virginia's early schooling was in Wisner then graduating from Fremont High School in 1952. Virginia moved to Milford, NE where she worked in a grocery store as a checker. She met Marvin Baird while working there. They were married June 18, 1954 in Milford, NE. at Grace Lutheran Church. They moved to Kearney to make their home. While in Kearney two sons were born; Lynn and Marty. In 1959 the family moved to North Platte, then in 1960 moved to California in the San Fernando Valley where she became a church secretary for Canoga Park Lutheran Church in Canoga Park, CA. 1978 the family moved to Paso Robles, CA where Virginia and Marvin started a mobil mechanic service. In 2004 they moved to Big Springs, NE to retire. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Big Springs.
She was preceded in death by; 1 brother, Duane Von Seggern. and one sister Ruth Pflueger.
Virginia is survived by; her husband, Marvin Baird, of Ogallala. 2 sons; Lynn (Peggy) Baird, of Hawkins, TX; Martin "Marty" Baird, of Palmdale, CA; 1 brother; James Von Seggern of Wisner, NE; 1 sister; Barbara "Von Seggern" Pflueger, of CA; 5 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at Zion Lutheran Church in Big Springs, NE with Rev. Trenton D. Christensen officiating. No visitation is scheduled.
Interment will be in the Big Springs Cemetery. Online condolences may be left by signing the Guest Book at www.drauckerfuneralhome.com.
