Robert Pick Obituary

Robert "Bob" W. Pick, age 83, of Ogallala, NE, passed away on Monday, June 17, 2019 at the Perkins County Hospital in Grant, NE.

Bob was born to Lloyd and Helen (Reefe) on December 25, 1935 in Antelope County.

Bob was raised on a farm North of Royal, NE by his grandparents, Bill and Anna Reefe along the Verdigre Creek. He loved the farm and the animals. His grandfather gave him his first horse when he was 4 years old, and always had at least 1 horse until his health got bad.

On October 31, 1953 he was united in marriage to his High School Sweetheart, Alice "Lou" (Mlnarik) Pick at O'neil, NE. The couple resided in Royal, NE. This year would have marked their 66th Anniversary.

As a young teenager, he and a friend would ride their horses over the neighbors pasture, herding cattle. That area is now known as the Ashfall Fossil Bed Historical Park. They never knew the pre historical animals that existed underneath.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping and one of his best times was fishing at Lake McCounaughy with a friend catching large Walleye fish. Bob talked about that day for a long time after.

Bob and his son, Rick were very active with the Jefferson County Westernaires in Colorado. This is a club for young boys and girls and they performed various drills on horseback and Bob taught a class on riding. The club put on shows all over Colorado, Wyoming, Montana and into Canada.

Bob and his wife, Lou enjoyed being hosts at Lewis and Clark Lake in the summer months and meeting so many people from all over the country.

He enjoyed his work at Coors Ceramic in Golden, CO as a senior buyer and retired after 26 years. Bob always said he bought everything for the company from copy paper to gold. Every day was something new and he enjoyed his co-workers.

He is preceded in death by 1 son, Rick Pick; his parents; a step-father, Hank Rice; grandparents; 1 sister, Jolene Taylor; 4 half-brothers, RoDean, Richard, Jim and Mike Rice; 2 half-sisters, Nadine Dredge, and Lavonne Moreno; and his mother and father-in-law, Alice and Alois Mlnarik.

Bob is survived by his wife, Lou Pick, of Ogallala; 4 sister-in-laws, Audrey (Mike) McDaniel, of Alamogordo, NM; Patty (Gary) Charf, of Ft. Lupton, CO; Cindy Rice, of Neligh, NE; Beverly Rice, of Silvis, IL; 1 brother-in-law, Lyle Dredge; 1 half-brother, George Pick, of New Market, IA; and many nieces and nephews. He will be truly missed by many.
