Koleen K. Dowdy-Stone, age 65, of Ogallala, Nebraska, passed away unexpectedly with her husband by her side on, Monday, July 29, 2019 at the Great Plains Health in North Platte, Nebraska.
Koleen was born May 7, 1954 in Greeley, CO to Cullen and Evelyn (Heimbichner) Odenbaugh. She attended Valley High School in Gilcrest, CO, graduating in 1972. She worked for Thrifty Foods Grocery Store in Platteville, CO. In 1977 she went to work for Plateville Police Department as a police officer until 1986. That same year she married, Gary Dowdy. The two of them divorced in 1991 and share two sons, Jacob and Mikel. Koleen moved to Brule to be with her family in 1997, where she worked for Bosselman's in Big Springs, then went to work for CD's Petro Mart on the interstate in Ogallala.
On August 9, 2004, she was united in marriage to Mark Stone, making their home in Brule. The couple moved to Ogallala in 2013. Koleen retired from CD's Petro Mart in 2015 when they sold to Casey's.
Koleen's greatest joy in life was spending time with her grandkids.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and 1 brother, Vern.
Koleen is survived by her husband, Mark Stone; 2 sons, Jacob (Julia) Dowdy; Mikel (Jessie) Dowdy, all of Ogallala; 3 brothers, Steve Odenbaugh, of Milliken, CO; Whitey (Dana) Odenbaugh, of Brule; Harley (Gail) Odenbaugh, of Platteville, CO; and 4 grandchildren; Skyler Dowdy; Daniel Dowdy; Sawyer and BrayLyn Dowdy, all of Ogallala. And many nieces and nephews that will miss her dearly.
Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2019, 10:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Ogallala with Rev. Chuck Rager officiating.
The family chose cremation. Interment of the cremains will be held Saturday, August 10, 2019 in the Brule Cemetery following the service.
