Jackie Green Obituary

Jackie Dale Green, 77, of Ogallala passed away in his home on Saturday March 10, 2018. Jack was born on March 28, 1940 in Julesburg, CO to James Leonard and Lilly Celia (Kizer) Green. He attended school in Ogallala until 8th grade and then he earned his GED.

Jack joined the Navy in 1958 and served his country until 1962 with an honorable discharge. Jack married Karen Dorothy Davison in 1962 and to this union four children were born. Jack was employed at Ed Cobb Tire Store in 1962 and continued on to work for Bob Barrett at Firestone. Jack then went to work for the gas company for 22 years until he retired.

After retirement Jack went to work part time for the City of Ogallala. He worked in the cemetery and parks developments. He then went on to work for Loren Soper Sod Farm in Keystone until his health failed. Jack was an honorary life member of the Ogallala Volunteer Fire Department where he was inducted into the Fireman's Hall of Fame. He served the Ogallala ambulance squad and taught EMT classes. Jack was involved with search and recovery, he was an honorary deputy with the Keith County Sheriff's Department and was a member of the Big Mac Sports Club.

He enjoyed doing yard work with his neighbor Jack Ringer. Jack loved stock car racing and trap shooting. He coached the Jr. and Sr. High trap teams for several years. Jacks love for trap shooting passed down to several of his grandsons and great grandsons.

 

He was proceeded in death by his parents, parents in law Herb and Mary Davison, a sister, June and husband Bob Adams. Two brothers, Bill and his wife Jean and Jim Green Jr. Brothers in laws, Warren Smith, Burton Nass and MelvinDunn and sister in law Mona Davison.

Survivors include his wife, his children; Shelly (Glenn) Williams from Grant, David (Julee) Green from Paxton, Jackie (Kevin) Robertson from Ogallala and Mary (Paul) Ritchie from Lincoln, his grandchildren: Chris(Cori) Williams of Ogallala, Justin (Fiance Becca Skaggs)Williams, Jarrod (Karith) Williams all of Grant, Jennifer Fosbinder of Ogallala, LynLea Green (Fiance Juan Perez) of Grant, Alicia (Matt) Walter of Kearney, Ashley Mullen, Nicholas (Nichi) Robertson, Nathan (Brooke) Robertson, Kelvin (Katy) Robertson, Klinton Robertson all of Ogallala, Morgan Ritchie and Jace Ritchie both from Lincoln. Three sisters, Genny Smith of Denver, Dove Nass of Omaha and Shirley (Richard) Sherich of Ogallala. Brother in laws Dick Davison of Ogallala, Herbie (Sunnee) Davison of Lincoln and sister in law Carol Dunn of Roscoe, Great grandchildren Tristan Otto, Brandon Williams. Maya Williams, Leon Williams, Callie Williams, Kane Williams, Kooper Williams, Domanic Williams, Spencer Williams, Austin Fosbinder, Carson Green, Lucas Perez, Juan Perez Jr, Ernie Perez, Shayle Mullen, Kinsley Walter, Addie Walter, Rebecca Robertson, Hailey Montgomery, Tucker Montgomery, Lexi Montgomery, Tyler Robertson, Kade Robertson, Austin Lutz, Tayvin Lutz, Preslin Lutz and Parker Robertson.  Many nieces, nephews and friends.

A memorial service will be Wednesday March 14, at 10:30am in The New Hope Church of Ogallala with Rev Eric Wait officiating. The family has chosen cremation. Inurnment will be in the Ogallala Cemetery with Navy military honors. A memorial has been established in his memory to the Ogallala Volunteer Fire Department and the Ogallala Trap team. Online condolences may be sent by signing the Guest Book. The Memorial service will be streamed live for those unable to attend.
