Dorothy Thompson

Dorothy Thompson, age 80, of Ogallala, passed away, Sunday, March 10, 2019 at the Indian Hills Manor in Ogallala.

Dorothy was born July 3, 1938 to Wayne and Jennie (Frerichs) Van Velson in Ogallala, NE.

She attended grade school at District 2 and graduated from Ogallala High School in 1955. On May 26, 1955, Dorothy married Don at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Ogallala. The couple resided and farmed south of Ogallala. She worked for ESU-16 for 25 years, and then went to work for American Shizuki until she retired in 2013.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Don; 1 son, Douglas Thompson; her parents; and 1 brother, Ed Van Velson.

Dorothy is survived by 1 son, Dave (Emily) Thompson, of Paxton; 1 sister, Linda Peters, of Ogallala; 1 grandson, Josh (Jill) Thompson; 1 granddaughter, Sara (Tom) Spratt, both of North Platte; and 7 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, March 17, 2019 at the Draucker Funeral Home Chapel in Ogallala.

Funeral Services will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 18, 2019 from St. Paul's Lutheran Church with Rev. John Stubenrouch officiating. Cremation will follow with interment of cremains in the Ogallala Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established for St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
