Michael "Mike" R. Lietz

Michael "Mike" Lietz, 63, of Brule, died July 28, 2017, in his home.
 
Mike was born July 19, 1954 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Robert Sr. and Leona (Dawiedczyk) Lietz.
 
He graduated from high school in Elgin, Ill. in 1972.   Mike moved to Arizona in 1973 with the family and worked various jobs.   
 
Mike relocated to Englewood, Colo. and then  faithfully served in the Navy from April 18, 1975 to April 16, 1979.  He returned to Colorado residing in several communities. 
 
He married Luetta Keever in 1997.  The couple settled in Chappell, Nebr.   Luetta preceded him in death in 2005.
 
Mike was employed as a truck driver and in 1999 he began driving for Hoovestol, Inc.   In 2007 he moved to Brule.  He met Beth Wood and the couple became engaged. 
 
Mike was an incredibly gifted man and very generous with his time and skills, helping his family, friends, and neighbors.  His hobbies included bow fishing and boating and especially liked antique cars. 
 
Preceding him in death were his parents.
 
Survivors include his siblings:  Clarence (wife Diane),  Gloria (husb. Rich), Robert (wife Julie), and Rebecca (husb. Dan); his fiancee' Beth;  and many nieces and nephews.
Cremation was chosen.  The Memorial Service will be Friday, August 4, at 10 a.m. MDT, in Draucker Funeral Home.  Rev. Chuck Rager of the First United Methodist Church will officiate. The Service will be live streamed for those unable to attend. 
 
Interment is in Fort McPherson National Cemetery near Maxwell on Friday at 2 p.m. CDT. with military tribute by the Navy Funeral Honors Team.   A memorial has been established in his name for later designation.  Online condolences may be sent to drauckerfuneralhome.com.
