OBITUARY
Wyona Thomas, 80, longtime Ogallala
resident, died Wednesday, April 6, at Bryan LGH Medical Center East in Lincoln,
Nebraska.

Wyona was born November 18, 1930 in Lemoyne, Nebr., the daughter of Thomas J.
Plummer, Sr. and MaDora Ruthledge Plummer. She attended rural schools near
Lemoyne. After the family moved to Ogallala she attended Ogallala Public
Schools.
Wyona married James E. Thomas in Cheyenne, Wyo. and the couple made their home
in Ogallala. She was employed several places including Goodall Electric, TRW,
and Hill Top Inn. Wyona worked at Front Street Restaurant as a hostess until her
retirement.
She was a member of St. Lukes Catholic Church and served on the Altar Society.
Wyona was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and was a volunteer with
RSVP. Her hobbies included embroidery, cooking for her family, and visiting with
friends.
Preceding her in death were her parents, son Terry Thomas, step-mother Ellen Ora
Whitney Plummer, sister Mila Bang, and brother-in-law Bill Volkmann.
Survivors include her husband James "Jim" Thomas of Ogallala; daughter Jerri
(Daniel) Chrisp of Lincoln; daughter-in-law Micky Thomas of Ogallala; two
sisters: Kay (Mike) Kimberly of Big Springs and Pat Volkmann of Vancouver, Wash;
brother Tom (Verla) Plummer of Lincoln; and brother-in-law Ray Bang and his wife
Alvina of Ogallala. Also three grandchildren: Melissa Thomas of Loveland, Colo.,
and Christina Thomas and Avery Chrisp, both of Lincoln and four
great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Friday, April 8, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. in Draucker Funeral
Home.
A Rosary Service at 9:30 a.m. will precede the Mass of Christian Burial Service
at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 9, in St. Lukes Catholic Church. Father Bryan
Ernest will be the Celebrant.
A memorial has been established in her name. Interment is in the Ogallala
