OBITUARY
Vivian McQueen, 92, longtime Ogallala
resident, died September 1, 2010 at Golden Ours Convalescent Home in Grant, NE.
Vivian was born April 25, 1918 in Lewellen, Nebr., the daughter of Vernon and
Nancy Brooks Graham. She attended school in Lewellen. After graduating from
Lewellen High School she worked in the Lewellen area.
On April 20, 1935 Vivian married Carl McQueen in Oshkosh. They made their home
in a sod house on a ranch north of Lemoyne. In 1944 they sold the ranch and
moved to Ogallala. Vivian was employed at Goodalls from 1949 to 1961.
She attended beauty school and in 1962 opened Vivian's Fashionette. In 1967
Vivian sold her business and worked parttime as a hairdresser for several local
shops. She was then employed at fast food restaurants for a few years until she
retired at the age of 80. In 2003 Vivian moved to Golden Ours Convalescent Home
due to ill health.
Preceding her in death was her husband, son Clinton McQueen, daughter Estele
Dunwoody, and a grandson Donald Williams.
Survivors include her daughter Iolia and her husband Jerry Florer, her
daughter-in-law Sondra Sharkey, her son-in-law Dennis Dunwoody, all of Ogallala;
two brothers: Victor (Evelyn) Graham of Albuquerque, NM and Arlie (Loretta)
Graham of Las Vegas, NV. Also eleven grandchildren and several
great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be on Monday, September 6, from 1 to 5 p.m. at Draucker Funeral
Home.
The Funeral Service will be on Tuesday, September 7, at 10 a.m. in the Ogallala
First Congregational, United Church of Christ with Rev. Phil Ewert officiating.
Interment in the Ogallala Cemetery. A memorial has been established in her name.
