OBITUARY
Violet Chandler Pierce, 96, of Sidney and formerly of Keystone, died September
14, 2010 in the Sidney Memorial Health Center Extended Care.

Violet was born January 22, 1914 in Keystone, Nebr., the daughter of Edward and
Pearl Mannon Knight. She attended school at Keystone.
She was raised in Keystone and was a longtime resident of Ogallala.
She married Earl Chandler in 1930 and made their home in Keystone. The couple
had four sons: Gerald, Donald, Kenneth, and Jim.
In 1941 Violet married Ira Pierce. One daughter Edna was born to this union.
They resided in Ogallala until Ira's death. Violet moved to Sidney in 2002 and
entered the Care Center in 2006.
Violet loved cooking, canning, sewing, knitting, crocheting, gardening, and deer
hunting. She also helped with the ranch work. Violet was employed at Indian
Hills Manor and TRW.
She was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Keystone. She was a loving mom,
grandma, and great-grandma. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family
and showing how much she loved each and everyone of them.
Preceding her in death were her parents, husbands Earl Chandler and Ira Pierce,
son Kenneth Chandler, grandchildren: Monty Chandler and Judith Chandler, and
three infant granddaughters; two daughters-in-law: Betty Chandler and Martha
Chandler; and son-in-law Richard Arnold.
Survivors include her sons Gerald (Nadine) Chandler of Paxton, Don Chandler of
Keystone, and Jim (Jean) Chandler of New Jersey, and Edna Arnold of Sidney, and
daughter-in-law Anita Chandler of Keystone; ten grandchildren and three
step-grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
The casket will not be open, but friends may pay their respects and sign the
register book on Friday, September 17, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Draucker Funeral
Home.
The Funeral Service will be Saturday, September 18, at 2 p.m. in the New Hope
Worship Center on East "O" Street. Rev. Eric Wait will officiate.
A memorial has been established to The Little Church of Keystone.
Interment will be in the Ogallala Cemetery.
