OBITUARY
Ruthcile Washa, 90, longtime Ogallala resident, died Monday, Oct. 11, 2010 at
Great Plains Regional Medical Center in North Platte.

Ruthcile was born June 27, 1920 in Washington, Kansas, the daughter of Lester
and Faye Blocker Potter. Ruthcile received her early education in Lamar,
Imperial, and Ogallala. She graduated from Ogallala High School in 1937.
On October 21, 1937 Ruthcile was united in marriage to John R. Washa at
Ogallala. The couple made their home on a farm southwest of Ogallala and resided
there over sixty years.
She was baptized at the First Christian Church in Lamar. Mrs. Washa has been a
member of the Ogallala First United Methodist Church since 1938. Her hobbies
included gardening and crocheting.
Preceding her in death was her husband John in 1978, infant grandson Paul Washa,
granddaughter Holly Washa in 1991, daughter-in-law Dorothy Washa in 1988,
brother Dean Potter in 1971, brother-in-law Harvey Hammond in 1973, and brother
Leroy Potter in 1980, great-great-grandson Joshua Ringer in 2004, and
sister-in-law Ila Marie Potter in 2007.
Survivors include two daughters Pauline (Loren) Railsback of Peoria, AZ and Mary
Ann (Bob) McEntee of North Platte. Two sons Charles (Connie) Washa of Grant and
John Washa of Ogallala. Two sisters Maxine Hammond of Ogallala and Iline (John)
Daigh of Newcastle, WY. One sister-in-law Ila Potter of Fort Collins, CO.
Eleven grandchildren: Ken (Deb) Ringer of Omaha, Terry Washa of Grant, Peggy
(Tim) Mead of Hammond, WI., Diane (Joe) Sherman of Milliken, CO.,
Linda Washa of Thornton, CO., Carrie (Mark) Bauder of Sterling, CO., Deb (Dave)
Giesenhagen of North Platte, J.R. (Tonya) McEntee of Loveland, CO., Karen Washa
and Roger Washa, both of McCook, and Becky Washa of Sioux Falls, SD.
Also 22 great-grandchildren; and eleven great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Thursday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Friday, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
at Draucker Funeral Home.
The Funeral Service will be Sat. Oct. 16, at 10 a.m. in First United Methodist
Church with Rev. Chuck Rager officiating.
Interment in the Ogallala Cemetery. A memorial has been established to the
Ogallala First United Methodist Church.
Draucker Funeral Home of Ogallala is in charge of arrangements.
