OBITUARY
Hershall I. Spencer, 88, of Hastings and formerly of Brule, died September 23,
2010 in the Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital in Hastings.
Hershall was born December 26, 1921 in Grainfield, KS., the son of Harry and
Bertha Fischer Spencer. As a child his family moved to Brule, escaping the Great
Dust Bowl. Hershall graduated from Brule High School and then worked on the
McConaughy Dam project.
He entered the
Army Air
Corp. on July 30, 1942 and was discharged on January 6, 1944. He was a World War
II bomber pilot who found his calling with United Airlines for thirty five
years. Hershall recently resided in Hastings, NE.
Preceding him in death was his wife of fifty years Harriet Frates Spencer.
Survivors include two sons Stanley Spencer and Randal Spencer, five
grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Cremation was chosen and there will be no viewing. Graveside Memorial Services
will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 6, 2010 in the Brule Cemetery with
Chip Maupin officiating.
