 OBITUARY

 
Dorothy Fleshman, 84, longtime Ogallala resident, died Friday, January 29, 2010 at Indian Hills Manor in Ogallala.

Dorothy Jean Fleshman was born May 26, 1925 in Carroll, NE., the daughter of Otto and Anna Otte Black. She received

her schooling in Carroll and graduated from Carroll High School in 1943.

Dorothy was then employed by Omaha Coal Storage Company in Norfolk, NE. for about two years. In October 1945 she moved to Ogallala where she was employed by Bell Telephone Co. for three years.

On April 21, 1946 Dorothy married Vernon L. Fleshman at Carroll, NE. In January 1971 she began employment as a kitchen aid at Indian Hills Manor and continued there for sixteen years. Dorothy also worked as a kitchen aid for Ogallala Public Schools during 1987 and 1988. She worked on a substitute basis after her retirement in 1988.

Dorothy was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Ogallala and also Circle 5. She was a fifty-year member of the VFW Auxiliary and enjoyed belonging to RSVP. Her hobbies included vegetable gardening, traveling, and being with friends.

Preceding her in death were her parents, husband Vernon, and sister Irene Ploog.

Survivors include two sons: Gary L. (Mary) Fleshman of Ogallala and Roger (Eli) Fleshman of Cheyenne, WY. One sister Margaret (Donald) Belter of Omaha, NE. Two brothers: Orville Black of Phoenix, AZ; and Frank Black of Sioux Falls, SD. Six grandchildren: Michelle Fleshman and fiance Daniel Carmona, Izabella Schilz, Caine Leman, Tara (John) Cromwell, Stefanie Simpson and fiance Cesar Juarez, and Michael (Jennifer) Simpson. One great-granddaughter Paloma Carmona. And several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Sunday, January 31, 1 to 5 p.m. at Draucker Funeral Home.

Funeral Service will be Monday, February 1, 10 a.m. in the First United Methodist Church of Ogallala with Rev. James B. Miller officiating.

Interment in the Ogallala Cemetery. A memorial has been established to First United Methodist Church.
