 OBITUARY

 
Sylvia Hill, 76, longtime Ogallala resident, died April 6, 2009 in Chase County Community Hospital in Imperial, NE.

Sylvia Darlene Hill was born June 13, 1932 in Henning, MN., the daughter of Arthur and Viola Kirchoff Sydow. She received her early education at Henning.

At an young age Sylvia moved with her family to Hastings, NE. On February 26, 1951 Sylvia married Charles Emmett Hill and the couple resided in Hastings several years.

In 1967 the family moved to Keystone, NE. For many years Sylvia was employed as a cook at North Shore Lodge in Lemoyne.

Sylvia loved fishing, traveling and spending time which her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Sylvia was a member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church. She was a member of the VFW Post 3755 Women's Auxiliary. Sylvia enjoyed volunteering with countless hours of service. In the 1970's she was elected to serve as the state president of the Nebraska VFW Women's Auxiliary.

Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, three sisters and three brothers.

Survivors include her four sons: Edwin (Patsy) Hill of Ogallala; Arthur (Molly) Hill of Casper, WY; Tony (Mary) Hill of Eldridge, IA; and Larry (Glenna) Hill of Akron, CO.

One sister Lorayne and (Henry) Hoffart of Phoenix, AZ.

Three sisters-in-law: Louise Hill, Lois Vath, and Mabel (Bob) Statler, all of Keystone.

Also eleven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Thursday, April 9, from noon to 6 p.m. at Draucker Funeral Home.

Funeral Service will be Friday, April 10, at 10 a.m. in St. Pauls Lutheran Church with Rev. David Dobbertien officiating.

Interment in the Ogallala Cemetery. A memorial has been established to St. Pauls Lutheran Church.
