OBITUARY
Robert F. 'Bob' Roeser, age 78, longtime Ogallala resident, died Tuesday,
February 3, 2009 in his home.
Bob was born July 6, 1930 in Grand Island, son of Augustus and Ethel (Buechler) Roeser. After his father died, his mother moved to Ogallala to be near her sister, Cass Buenz and brother Boola Buechler.
Bob graduated from Ogallala High
School in 1948 and then attended Creighton University and the University of
Nebraska, Lincoln. He then joined the
US Air Force. His military career was served
at Reese Air Force Base in Texas.
On July 6, 1952 Bob married Connie Nye in Ogallala. Upon Bob's discharge from the military, they moved back to Ogallala. For a time Bob worked with Connie's father at the Nye Furniture Store in Ogallala. Later he worked for Goodall Electric and then TRW Industries. In 1967 his job took the family to Lincolnshire, IL where he lived until 1986.
On July 29, 1979 Bob married Sally Nemoff. When they moved back to Ogallala he worked for Keith County Economic Development until 1988 when he and Bob Lute began working on the Nebraska National Trails Museum project.
One of Bob's greatest pleasures was playing piano. He pleased many an audience with his talent over the years. Among his most treasured memories are the times he shared the keyboard with his uncle 'Beans' (Harold) Buenz.
When not at the keyboard he enjoyed golf, hunting, his snooker table, stamp and coin collecting, bird watching and bridge. He was also a very avid history buff. Bob was always happiest doing something out doors.
He was a member of St. Pauls Episcopal Church in Ogallala.
Preceding him in death were his parents, twin brother Dick, an infant sister, and wives Connie and Sally.
Survivors include his three sons, John of Laguna Niguel, CA; Phillip and wife Ellen of Maple Grove MN; and Michael and wife Anna of Libertyville, IL.
Eight grandchildren: Ryan, Kyle, Nicole, Chelsea, Angela, Patrick, Gus and Johnny and special family friend Diane Wipperling of Ogallala. Bob also considered Diane's father Foster Meisch, brother Conrad (Debbie) Meisch, and her daughters Rhonda (Mark) Treder, Laurie (Paul) Van Engelenhoven and their children as family members.
