OBITUARY
Richard
“Dick” Minor, age 78, of Gordon, NE, died Wednesday, June 17, 2009, at his home
south of Gordon.
Richard Duane Minor was born October 21, 1930 in Kansas City, MO to Harry and Neva (Dahlstrom) Minor. The family home was south of Hyannis, NE. Dick attended school in Alliance, NE followed by two years attendance at West Point Military Academy in Lake Geneva, WI. Dick returned to Alliance HS where he graduated in 1949. Dick attended two years at CSU prior to returning to the family ranch south of Hyannis.
Dick married Arlene Becker on September 22, 1953 in Mullen, NE. They made their home south of Hyannis. Soon they moved north of Hyannis to the Minor-Jerguson Ranch where they made their home and where Dick and Arlene ranched.
Dick was a member of the
Calvary Episcopal Church of Hyannis. Dick was the Gordon Rancher of the Year in
1965. He was a member of the
Elks club for 60 years. His hobbies included
bar-b-queing, gun collecting and working on wind mills.
He is survived by his wife: Arlene Minor

Three Sons: Joe (Kris) Minor of Hyannis, NE; Ed Minor of Gordon, NE; and Dick Minor, Jr. of Gordon, NE
One Sister: Gloria (Dick) Colerick of Lincoln, NE
Nine Grandchildren:
Four Granddaughters: Mindy (Jeff) Powell – Parks, NE
Mandy Kimble (Joel Engers – Fiancé) – North
Platte, NE
Melissa (Luke) Snyder – Imperial,
Sami Arce – Garland, TX
Five Grandsons:
Shawn (Tara) Minor – Camden, OH
Jay (Tina) Kimble – Bush, LA

Matt Minor – Gordon, NE
Tyler Minor (McKenzie Vivion - Fiancée) –
Hyannis, NE
Seventeen great-grandchildren
Visitation will be held at the Hyannis High School Gym Monday, June 22 from 9:00 AM until time of the Funeral Service at 1:00 PM (same location) Pastor Roy Monahan of the Church of the Sandhills, Hyannis, NE, officiating. Interment will be in Hyannis Cemetery in Hyannis, NE.
Memorials have been established to the Gordon, Merriman, and Hyannis Ambulance Squads.
