 OBITUARY

 
Phyllis Wilson, age 95, longtime Arthur resident, died February 25, 2009 in the Callaway Good Samaritan Center.

Phyllis T. Bader Wilson was born February 11, 1914 on the family farm in rural Merrick County, NE., the daughter of Jacob and Caroline Frederking Bader. She was the fourth of six children.

Phyllis attended parochial school and was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Grand Island. She attended nursing school in Grand Island and then practiced as a Registered Nurse for several years.

On December 11, 1940 Phyllis married Walter H. Wilson in Chappell, NE. They lived on the family ranch in Arthur County. To this union were born two sons Douglas and Richard.

She was a member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Ogallala. During the early years of marriage Phyllis and Walter attended 34 J Sunday School in Garden County, NE.

Her hobbies included playing pinochle, gardening, and doing needlecrafts, and also enjoyed traveling with friends and family. She especially liked major league baseball games and going to casinos with her sister. She was an excellent homemaker and was noted for her homemade bread, pies, and angel food cakes.

Preceding her in death was her husband Walter in 1988, her parents, one sister Leona Sass, and three brothers Elmer, Abe, and Norman.

Survivors include two sons Doug Wilson and his wife Susan of Arthur; and Dick Wilson and his wife Colleen of Phoenix, AZ. One sister Lucille Wilber of Lincoln, NE.

Six grandchildren: Jennifer (Eric) Parker of North Platte, NE. Mark (Sandi) Wilson and Michael (Jena) Wilson, all of Arthur. John (Heather) Wilson, Jeff Wilson, and Kathy (Jason) Smith, all of Phoenix, AZ. And Ten great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be on Sunday, March 1, from 1 to 5 p.m. at Draucker Funeral Home.

Funeral Service will be Monday, March 2, at 10 a.m. in St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Ogallala with Rev. David Dobbertien officiating.

Interment in the Ogallala Cemetery. A memorial has been established to the Callaway Good Samaritan Care Center.
