 OBITUARY

Paul Lloyd McIntosh, 55 of Ogallala died Thursday April 16, 2009 in the Ogallala Community Hospital.  Funeral services were held today in Draucker Funeral Home with Mark Carlton officiating.

Paul was born November 17, 1953, at Mills Memorial Hospital in San Bruno, California, the son of William C. and Ila L. (Railsback) McIntosh.

At an early age, Paul attended a special school called Oceana High School in Pacifica, California where he worked on Schlage locks.

In 1973, Paul and his family moved from Pacifica, California to Ogallala, Nebraska.  After moving to Ogallala, Paul was in the PAKS Developmental Services unit and worked at the PAKS workshop followed by Sapp Bros., and most recently Pamida where he has worked for 12 years.  Paul has lived independently in an apartment since his mother’s death.

Paul never knew a stranger.  He walked around town, visiting with people he met along the way.  He’s the one you saw sitting on park benches along the streets resting so he could walk more.  It could be over 100◦ outside and he would still walk.  You would often hear him say:  “There is one thing about it.  You know, you can’t boss Mother Nature.”  You would see him at most home sporting events where he would encourage the student athletes in their endeavors.  He would sit on the bench at Safeway and visit with people about his favorite topics: family, the weather, area fire calls and sports.  One of his prize possessions was a scanner and he could tell you where every fire was, where the bad weather was, and where every ambulance went.  He rarely complained and always had something positive to say.  He was quick to forgive and family was everything to him.  He was a joy to those around him and would frequently bring a smile to the faces of those around him.

Survivors include his brother, George D. McIntosh and special friend Jeanne Moss, of Waterville, Minnesota, nephew Danny Parker of Kearney, niece Nicole and husband Eddie Anthony of Bellevue, nephew George McIntosh, Jr., of Waterville, Minnesota, and sister-in-law, Kathy Parker of Kearney. One great nephew Sam Parker and two great nieces Erin & Teaghan Parker. Paul is also survived by five Aunts Dorothy Coler of Lincoln, Mavis Ohlson of Cambridge, Maxine and husband Glen Brown of Ogallala, Imogene Davison of Ogallala, Katherine and husband Curtis Brunner of Tucson, Arizona and one Uncle Loren and wife Pauline of Phoenix, Arizona, and numerous cousins including Debbie Foust of Ogallala and Kathy Vacura of Cambridge, who were co-guardians.  Other special survivors include previous caregivers, Debe and Terry Thompson, Malisa O’Neail,  Marklyn McGinnis, Amy Sauer, Julie Holiday and Sandy Couch as well as many other caring PAKS employees and clients.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents Bill and Ila McIntosh, brother Robert S. McIntosh, and grandparents, Lloyd and Leona Railsback.

A memorial has been established.  Burial was at Ogallala Cemetary.

Draucker Funeral Home of Ogallala is in charge of arrangements.
