 OBITUARY

 

Mayme VanEvery, age 90, longtime Ogallala resident, died January 9, 2009 in the Ogallala Community Hospital.

Mayme Olive VanEvery was born July 7, 1918 in Florence in North Omaha, Nebraska, to Elmer and Edith Hineline Michelsen.  The family moved to Blair in 1922 and later returned to Omaha.

Mayme attended the Florence School through the fourth grade. In 1929 they moved to Weeping Water and Mayme finished elementary school and graduated from high school in 1936. She then attended the University of Nebraska in Lincoln.

Mayme married Russell M. VanEvery on September 4, 1943 in Weeping Water, NE.

After Russell's discharge from military service the couple relocated to Ogallala. They owned and operated an insurance and real estate business, retiring in 1985.

Mayme was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

Preceding in death was her husband Russell in 2004, her infant son Charles R. VanEvery, her brother Bud Michelsen and her sister Leola Christensen.

Survivors include her daughter Patricia VanEvery of Kailua Kona, HI and her son Tom VanEvery of Ogallala; two sisters-in-law Irene Michelsen of Weeping Water, NE and Imogene and her husband Carlton Noyes of Kearney; and brother-in-law William VanEvery and his wife Frances of Sun City West, AZ.

There will be no viewing. Graveside Service will be Thursday, January 15, at 2 p.m. in the Ogallala Cemetery. Rev. James Miller of the Ogallala First United Methodist Church will officiate.

A memorial has been established in her memory.
