OBITUARY
LUCILLE JEHOREK BRETHAUER, age 98,
died March 14, 2009 at her rural Brule home.
Lucille was born July 16, 1910 at Keystone, NE., the daughter of Silas Crawford and Eva Ulrich Coyner. Lucille was the second baby girl born in Keystone and was raised there.
Lucille graduated from Keystone High School as valedictorian of her class in 1929. Lucille earned a teaching certificate at Kearney College. She rode horseback to the Birdwood School north of Sarben and taught there, then at District #62 south of Brule. Lucille also taught at District #18 north of Ogallala.
In 1934 Lucille married Leo Jehorek and the couple lived in Denver. Due to Leo's father's needs the family moved back to Keith County to help on the farm. Later Leo and Lucille began their own farming business. They established a Grade A Dairy and sold milk.
The next move was to the Campbell Farm that they had bought back in 1949 and they lived there until Leo's death in 1975.
Lucille got her teaching certificate renewed and taught school for ten years, retiring in 1970. She then worked as a bookkeeper for her son Bob at his grain elevator business in Platteville, CO for several years.
On May 2, 1987 Lucille married Jake Brethauer and the couple lived in the Platteville area. He died on April 16, 2000 after a long illness. Mrs. Brethauer returned to Ogallala to be closer to her family.
Lucille's hobbies include reading, music, painting, and crocheting. She was a member of the Ogallala Regional Arts Council and Daughters of the American Revolution.
Preceding her in death were her husbands, Leo Jehorek and Jake Brethauer; son Larry Jehorek; six sisters: Daisy Collister, Margaret Kenfield, Ada Robeson, Eva Sennett, Paula Goertzen, and Kay Coyner; two brothers: Bert Coyner and Crawford Coyner; daughter-in-law Joyce Jehorek, granddaughter Danielle Jehorek, and great-granddaughter Bryanna Jehorek.

Also two daughters-in-law: Dorothy Jehorek of Ogallala and Rosemary Jehorek of St. Joseph, MO; and more than 100 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, March 17, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Draucker Funeral Home. The Wake Service will be at 7 p.m. (Tues.) in St. Lukes Catholic Church.
Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday, March 18, at 10:30 a.m. in St. Lukes Catholic Church with Father Bryan Ernest the Celebrant.
Interment in the Ogallala Cemetery. A memorial has been established at the Adams Bank for St. Lukes Catholic School.
