Lannie was born June 6, 1956 in Ogallala, the son of Carlton and Carol Gemmell Olson.

After graduating from Brule High School in 1976, Lannie worked for Olson Manufacturing and HS & S Magnet Manufacturing Co.

Lannie was employed with his father and brothers in the home building business. He later worked in construction building stores in malls across the country.

His hobbies included hunting, fishing, and gardening. He excelled in drafting during high school and received an award from TRW.

Preceding him in death was his father Carlton Olson.

Survivors include his mother Carol Olson of Brule; three brothers: Lonnie (Valarie) Olson, Layne Olson, and Lowell (Shelly) Olson, all of Brule. One sister Linda and her husband Steven Thompson of Loveland, CO.

There are nine nephews & nieces, four great-nephews & nieces, and a special cousin Arlo Olson. Also several aunts and uncles including Delmore Olson and Jack and Lorraine Gemmell, all of Ogallala; Phyllis Brockmoller of Kearney; Fay Gemmell of Keene, NH; Bernard and Louise Armstrong of Australia; and Joe and Charlotte Toro of Ogallala.

Cremation was chosen and there will be no viewing. Memorial Service will be Thursday, Jan. 8, at 11 a.m. in the Brule United Church of Christ, Congregational with Rev. Lauran Heidenreich officiating.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to the Diabetes Association.
