OBITUARY
Fay Johnson, 83, longtime Ogallala resident, died November 15, 2009 in Great
Plains Regional Medical Center in North Platte.

Fay was born October 25, 1926 in Fontanelle, IA, the son of Fay R. and Pearl
Thorpe Johnson. Fay graduated from Corning High School in 1944 and then worked
on the family farm.
On July 21, 1945 Fay was united in marriage to Dorothy Drew in Little Rock, AR.
The couple made its home in Corning, IA.
Fay enlisted in the
Army
and served his country as a military policeman in Washington, DC during World
War II. After Fay was discharged the couple moved to Ogallala in 1947. Fay was
employed as a rural mail carrier for the US Postal Service.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the
American
Legion Post 0303 in Paxton, and the
Ogallala
Elks Lodge #1760. He loved spending time outdoors hunting, fishing, and
trapshooting. He especially enjoyed visiting with family and friends and will be
missed by many.
Preceding him in death were his parents, twin sons Jerry and Jimmy, and son
Mike, daughter-in-law Gloria Johnson, two brothers Tom Johnson and Harvey
Johnson and one sister Dorothy Blake.
Survivors include his wife Dorothy Johnson of Ogallala, one son Marty Johnson of
Eagle, NE and one daughter Mindy and her husband Kraig Schilling of Lincoln, NE.
Three sisters: Helen (Jerry) Weeks and Opal Hook, all of Indianola, IA; and
Joyce Coffman of Milo, IA. One brother Ben (Dorothy) Johnson of Lone Tree, IA.
Four grandchildren: Aaron and Cody Schilling of Lincoln; Amy (Jeff) Hellerich of
Fergus Falls, MN; and Amber Johnson of Olathe, KS.
Two step-grandchildren: Jennifer McCaslin of Urbandale, IA and Curt Hatcher of
Chicago, IL. and one great-granddaughter Madilyn Hellerich.
Three step-great-granddaughters: Claudia, Abigail, and Paradais McCaslin.
Visitation will be Wednesday, Nov. 18, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Draucker Funeral
Home.
The funeral service will be Thursday, Nov. 19, at 1:30 p.m. in the First United
Methodist Church in Ogallala with Rev. James Miller officiating.
Interment in the Ogallala Cemetery with military honors. A memorial has been
