 OBITUARY

 
Gloria E. Johnson, age 81, longtime Brule resident, died Monday, January 26, 2009 at Indian Hills Manor.

Gloria Elaine Johnson was born on March 4, 1927 in Cushing, NE., the daughter of Clarence and Dora Golden Johnson.  Her father died when she was
four years old.  In 1935 Gloria's mother accepted a position in Brule, NE as a telephone operator.

In 1938 Gloria's mother married Albert Hinrichs and the family moved to his farm south of Brule.  Gloria attended District 17 in Perkins County and finished her education at Brule High School.   

In 1952 the family moved into Brule where she resided until 2001 when she moved to Indian Hills Manor.

Gloria was a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church in Brule and was a member of the Lutheran Women's Missionary League.  She also helped as custodian for several years.

Preceding her in death were her mother Dora Hinrichs, her step-father Albert Hinrichs and step-brother Harold Hinrichs.

Survivors include her brother Richard Johnson and his wife Donna of Ogallala and step sister-in-law LeeAnn Hinrichs of Brule and many nieces and nephews.

Cremation was chosen. A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 2, at 1:30 p.m. in St. Johns Lutheran Church in Brule with Rev. Jon M. Dickmander officiating. 

A memorial has been established to St. Johns Lutheran Church of Brule.  Inurnment in the Brule Cemetery.
