OBITUARY
Allen D. Armstrong, 91, longtime Big Springs resident, died Wednesday, November
11, 2009 in the Garden County Hospital in Oshkosh.

Allen "Peck" Armstrong was born February 27, 1918 in Keith County, Nebraska, the
son of James and Maud Cummings Armstrong. He received his education in rural
Perkins County schools.
On February 8, 1941 Allen was united in marriage to Arlene D. Donahue at
Harrisburg, NE. The couple farmed and resided on their place fourteen miles
southeast of Big Springs for fifty six years. They then moved into Big Springs
and resided twelve years before moving to Miller Memorial Home in Chappell in
2009.
He was a member of the Methodist Church. His hobbies included hunting,
gardening, and playing cards. He collected barbed wire and other artifacts and
enjoyed welding artwork.
Preceding him in death was an infant daughter Gloria, seven brothers: Dean,
Clayton, Raymond, Glenn, Walt, Ralph, and Ernie; and five sisters: Bertha Jergon,
Mabel Dilley, Mary Welch, Betty McDonald, and Bessie McDonald.
Survivors include his wife Arlene Armstrong of Big Springs, two daughters:
Beverly (Jerry) Baker of Westminster, CO and Connie (Jack) Barker of Corryton,
TN. Two sons: Roger (Elaine) Armstrong of Ogallala and Mark (Michelle) Armstrong
of Big Springs, NE. Sister-in-law Leona Armstrong of Big Springs.
Also nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Cremation was chosen and there will be no visitation. A memorial service is
scheduled for Monday, Nov. 23, at 10 a.m. in Draucker Funeral Home.
Rev. Joy Savage of the Big Springs United Methodist Church will officiate.
Inurnment in the Ogallala Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to the Big Springs United
Methodist Church.
