OBITUARY
Agnes E. Engel, 83, longtime rural Ogallala resident, died February 17, 2009 in
Presbyterian St. Lukes Medical
Center in Denver.
Agnes Engel was born September 8, 1925 at Keystone, NE., the daughter of Guy W. and Alma E. Osborn Pierce. Agnes received her early education at Keystone, finishing the last two years at Ogallala High School. She graduated with the Class of 1945.
Agnes then worked for Good-All Electric until 1948. On May 2, 1949 Agnes married William W. Engel in Ogallala. The couple resided at their farm south of Ogallala for over fifty years. Agnes was involved in the farming operation. They celebrated their 50th anniversary in May of 1999. William 'Bill" died in September 1999.
Her hobbies included reading and quilting. Agnes was confirmed on December 16, 1956 and became a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and was active in the Lutheran Womens Missionary League. She also belonged to the ABC Extension Club.
Preceding her in death were her husband Bill, her parents, her grandson Moses Simpson,and her sister Irene Wood.
Survivors include:
Tree daughters: Sandra and husband
Jim Glenn of Grant; Becky and husband Lloyd Dahlkoetter of Grant; and Katherine
and husband Russ Simpson of Denver.
Two sons: Charles Engel and wife Jolene of
Ogallala; and David Engel and wife Lisa of Grant.
Three sisters: Marie Saunders,
Lois Klinge, and Carol Creason, all of Ogallala.
Two brothers: Virgil (Donna)
Pierce of Ogallala and Melvin (Shirley) Pierce of Gering.
Eleven grandchildren: Stacey (Matt) Manary of
Kearney; Joshua Dahlkoetter of Grant; Scott, Jeffrey and Kameron Simpson, all of
Denver; Johanna, Phillip and Emilene Engel, all of Ogallala; Craig Engel of
Columbus; Christopher (Amber) Engel of Ashland; and Cashia (Dave) Dailey of
Grant.
Four great-grandchildren: Carsyn and Easton Manary of Kearney; and Keegan
and Kalli Dailey of Grant.
And a host of family and friends.
Visitation will be Friday, Feb. 20, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Draucker Funeral Home.
Funeral Service will be on Saturday, Feb. 21, at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, southwest of Ogallala. Rev. Wayne T. Pick will officiate.
Interment in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. A memorial has been established in her memory.
