 OBITUARY

 
Nora Piper, age 71, of Ogallala, died December 26, 2008 in the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.

Nora was born January 31, 1937 in Ocola, MO., the daughter of James and Mabel Bishop Hammons. Nora graduated from high school in North Bend, OR. in 1954.

She moved to Denver, CO. where she worked in several restaurants. In 1955 Nora began employment for the Jefferson County Sheriffs Dept. in Golden, CO.

On December 15, 1956 Nora married Richard Piper in Golden, CO. She maintained her home in Golden while Richard was stationed in Germany with the Army Engineers. In February 1957 Nora traveled by ship from New York to Germany to join Richard in Kassel, Germany. When she returned to the United States in 1958 she resumed her position with the Sheriffs Dept. Richard was discharged in 1958 and also worked for the Sheriffs Dept.

In 1959 Nora was employed at Coors Porcelain in Golden. From 1969 to 1981, Nora was employed at Biros Upholstery. She then was a mother and homemaker.

In 1993 the Pipers retired and moved to Ogallala.

Her hobbies included gardening and canning, sewing, toll painting and craft making.

She was a member of New Hope Church.

Preceding her in death were her parents and two infant brothers.

Survivors include her husband Richard Piper, Daughter Rosa and her husband Tony Boerder; and her son Mark Piper, all of Ogallala. One brother James and his wife Nan Hammons, Jr. of North Bend, OR. two grandsons: Brandon Boerder of Denver, CO and Troy Boerder of Ogallala. two granddaughters: Alisha and Dawn Boerder, both of Ogallala.

Visitation will be Tuesday, December 30, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Draucker Funeral Home.

Cremation was chosen.

The Memorial Service will be Wednesday, December 31, at 10:30 a.m. in New Hope Worship Center on East "O" Street in Ogallala. Revs. Mark Carlton and Eric Wait will officiate.

A memorial has been established in her memory.
