OBITUARY
Harry Geisert, 85, longtime Keith County farmer, died Monday, January 23, 2012,
in the Ogallala Community Hospital.

Harry LaVerne Geisert was born March 4, 1926 on the family farm southeast of
Ogallala. His parents were William and Ethel Walker Geisert.
Harry attended District 7 rural school and graduated from the eighth grade. He
then attended Ogallala High School and graduated in 1943. In 1944 he entered the
armed services. After being discharged on January 20, 1946 he was engaged in
farming with his father.
In 1950 Harry married Luanne Spencer and they continued to farm. Three sons were
born to this union. Harry was an active member of the Farm Bureau and the Roscoe
Telephone Board. He also served many years on the election board and on District
22 school board.
In 1976 he was forced to retire from farming, due to ill health. As a result,
Harry became an avid wood crafter for several years and enjoyed being in the
wood carvers' club. In 1986 Harry and Luanne moved into Ogallala. He was a
lifelong member of St. Johns Lutheran Church where he was confirmed in 1939 and
later served as an officer.
He
is a past recipient of the Aksarben Good Neighbor Award. Other hobbies included fishing and hunting.
Preceding him in death were his parents and a brother Edward Jones and a
sister-in-law Gennie Jones.
Survivors include his wife Luanne Geisert of Ogallala, and sons Greg (Marcia)
Geisert of Newport News, VA; Mark (Lori) Geisert of Waco, TX.; and Jeff
(Jennifer) Geisert of Lincoln, NE. Also nephew Guy Jones and his wife Carol and
their sons; and one great-niece Eilene Brott of Ogallala. Also seven
grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Thursday, January 26, from noon to 6 p.m. at Draucker Funeral
Home.
The funeral service will be Friday, January 27, at 2 p.m. in St. Johns Lutheran
Church, southeast of Ogallala. Rev. Robert Pierce will officiate.
Interment is in the Ogallala Cemetery with military honors. A memorial has been
