OBITUARY
Eunice Gies, 85, longtime Keystone resident, went to the arms of the Lord on
Sunday, December 25,
2011 in Golden Ours Convalescent Home in Grant, NE.
Eunice was born January 28, 1926 at Big Springs, NE, the daughter of Bert and
Ular (Shankel) Turner. Eunice attended elementary school and then graduated from
Brule High School in 1944.
In 1949 Eunice married Ross Graham at Chappell. On April 21, 1953 she married
Fred Gies in Greeley, Colo. They made their home on the family ranch at
Keystone, until Eunice moved to Golden Ours Convalescent Home in May 2008.
Besides helping on the ranch, she also was employed at the Ben Franklin Store
and the Coast to Coast Store for twenty nine years.
Eunice was a lifelong member of Radiant Life Assembly of God in Ogallala. She
volunteered as a leader in the Helpful Workers 4-H Club for the Keystone area
children for many years. Eunice enjoyed Bible study, sewing, baking and
gardening.
Preceding her in death was her husband Fred in 2000; four brothers: Burton,
Charles, Eldred and Duane; and two sisters: Evelyn Pierce and Fern Harris.
Survivors include her daughter Karen and her husband Larry Quinn of Mineral
Wells, Tex., and her son Doug Gies of Keystone. Three brothers: Lawrence (Lauretta)
Turner of Jenks, OK, Edwin (Wyvonne) Turner of Springfield, MO, and Keith
(Sharon) Turner of Duncanville, TX. One sister Eula Mae Hack of Sanford, Flor.
Seven grandchildren: Susan (Paul) Wood of Ogallala; Kevin Gebhard of Norfolk,
Vir; Jessica (Jon) Adams of Ogallala; Johnathan Gies and Christopher(Carrie)
Gies, all of Keystone; Alex Gies of Torrington, WY; and Darla Steward of Ft.
Worth, TX. And seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Tuesday, December 27, from 1 to 5 p.m. in Draucker Funeral
Home.
The funeral service will be Wednesday, December 28, at 10 a.m. in Radiant Life
Assembly of God. The Revs. Heather and David Gill will officiate.
Interment is in the Ogallala Cemetery. A memorial has been established to Golden
