OBITUARY
Emily Marie Sando, 74, of Ogallala, died Sunday, December 11, 2011 in the
Ogallala Community Hospital.

Emily was born June 9, 1937 in Rockham, SD. She was the third of six children
born to James and Lillie Kissner Pedersen.
She graduated from Ipswich, So. Dak. High School with the class of 1955. Emily
then worked for an attorney in Ipswich before getting a job at the South Dakota
Department of Labor in Aberdeen, So. Dak. There she met and, in 1959, married
her husband of 52 years Delmar E. Sando. They made Aberdeen their home and
raised three children.
In 1971 the family moved to Denver, Colo. where they resided until moving to
Ogallala in 1994. Emily co-owned the Ogallala Dairy Queen along with her family.
Her hobbies included sewing, crocheting, and playing bridge. Emily especially
enjoyed working with the Girl Scouts.
Preceding her in death were her parents.
Survivors include her husband Delmar Sando and her son James Sando, both of
Ogallala; and two daughters: Ellen and her husband Michael Taylor of Ogallala
and Pamela and her husband John Prokop of Tuscon, AZ. Also four sisters: Dorothy
Ernst of Roscoe, SD; Rosene Royce of Faulkton, SD; Linda Epperly and Jane
Tumbleson, both of Mobridge, SD. One brother Marcus Pedersen and his wife Judy
of McPherson, KS. Nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to the time of Funeral Service at 11 a.m. MT on
Saturday, Dec. 17, in Draucker Funeral Home. Rev. John Stubenrouch of St. Pauls
Lutheran Church will officiate. A memorial has been established in her memory.
Cremation will follow and inurnment will take place at Fort McPherson National
Cemetery near Maxwell on Monday, Dec. 19 at 11 a.m. Central Time. Online
