OBITUARY
Carlin R. Frerichs, 81, beloved husband, father, and grandfather joined his Lord
early the morning of
December 19, 2011, at the Ogallala Community Hospital.
He was born on May 12, 1930 in Ogallala, NE to Harm J Frerichs and Sena (Lambertus)
Frerichs. Carlin attended St. Paul’s Lutheran School before graduating from
Ogallala High School in 1949. On October 5, 1957, Carlin married Ruth E.
Rohlfing at Grace Lutheran Church in Lewellen, NE. Except for a brief period
after graduation when he lived and worked in Denver, CO, Carlin was a life-long
wheat farmer south of Ogallala. He retired from full-time farming in 2006, but
continued assisting his son around the farm and tinkering at his property north
of the farm. He loved to tinker around his shop and always had time to say
“hello” and a kind word to friends and neighbors.
He enjoyed bowling, woodworking, reading, playing cards, and spending time with
his family, but he was most comfortable being outside in his Lord’s creation. He
was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. He will be greatly missed by those
who knew and loved him.
Preceding him in death were his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth; three daughters: Kelli and her husband Bob
Ullrich of Mitchell; Kristi Stingley of Fort Collins, Colo; Kari and her husband
Larry Young of Ogallala and a son Kevin Frerichs and his wife Peggy of Ogallala;
three sisters: Verna and her husband Jack Hilderbrand of Wheatland, WY; Elda and
her husband Orval Dehning of Lee’s Summit, MO; and Doris and her husband Larry
McCormick of Torrington, WY; four grandchildren, Chad Young of Imperial, Justin
Young and Courtney Young, both of Houston, Tex., and Tanner Ullrich of Mitchell;
four step-grandchildren, Mackenzie, Cory, Joey, and Jordan, all of Ogallala, and
numerous nieces and nephews.
