 OBITUARY

 
Edward Walsh Svoboda ,age 46, of Holdrege and formerly of Ogallala, died Thursday, November 24, 2011, at the Phelps Memorial Health Center in Holdrege.

Edward was born November 15, 1965 in Ogallala, the son of Frank and Anne Walsh Svoboda. He was a person who exceeded all the expectations ascribed to him at birth. With the love and determination of his family, particularly his mother, and the newly established Educational Service Unit, Ed walked, communicated, and was vividly interested in the special people in his life. He inspired many and brought out the best in others. He enjoyed swimming, Boy Scouts, and Special Olympics. After his youth in Ogallala, he resided at Bethphage in Axtell, Nebr., until he moved to Holdrege Memorial Homes.

He was preceded in death by his brother Paul and his mother Anne.

Survivors include his father Frank Svoboda of Ogallala, his siblings: Patrick (Camille) Svoboda of Ogallala; Jerry Svoboda and his wife Andrea Fisk of Portland, Ore.; Jane Svoboda, Amy Svoboda and her husband Don Andrews, all of Lincoln, Nebr.; Katy (Stuart) Hunt of Silver Spring, MD.; Mary Svoboda and her husband Brian Perkinson of Chicago, IL.; Terese Svoboda and her husband Steve Bull of New York City, NY.

Visitation will be Sunday, Nov. 27, from 1 to 5 p.m. at Draucker Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be Monday, November 28, at 10 a.m. at St. Lukes Catholic Church with Rev. Bryan Ernest officiating. Interment is in the Ogallala Cemetery. A memorial has been established to St. Lukes Catholic Church. Online Condolences may be sent by clicking here.
