OBITUARY
Alfred Lee "Fritz" Flansburg, 87, longtime Ogallala resident, died Tuesday,
November 8, 2011 in his home surrounded by his family after a courageous battle
with cancer.
Alfred was born April 5, 1924 in Onida, SD., the son of Fred and Ione Haynes
Flansburg. He grew up on the family ranch and received his early education in
Onida and graduated from high school in 1941.
Alfred "Fritz" enlisted in the
Navy on October 31, 1944 and attended training in the Gunner's Mate School in
Bainbridge, MD. After being discharged on Oct. 7, 1946, he returned to Onida,
SD.
On December 25, 1948, Fritz married Adelia Garber in Pierre, SD. Fritz was
employed as a car mechanic at Hal Phipps Co. in Pierre. The couple moved to
Denver where Fritz owned and operated Fritz's Alignment and Auto Repair in
Littleton, CO.
Later on the couple moved to Wyoming and Fritz worked in the Texas Gulf Mine in
Green River, WY. Upon retirement they moved to Ogallala, NE. in 1993.
He had a lifelong love of fishing, hunting, and camping with his family.
Preceding him in death were his parents and son Robert Flansburg.
Survivors include his wife Adelia Flansburg and his son Danny (Carla) Flansburg,
all of Ogallala; sons: Miles (Linda) Flansburg of Parker, CO. and Lyle Flansburg
of Saratoga, WY; and daughter-in-law Cathy Flansburg of Rock Springs, WY. Also
six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
At the request of the family there will be no visitation. The private family
memorial service will be held at a later date.
