OBITUARY
Norma Jean Brott, 76, longtime Keith County resident, died Tuesday, July 5, 2011
at Indian Hills Manor in Ogallala.

Norma was born May 5,1935 in Arthur County, Nebraska to Fred and Edith Robins
Starkey. She received her early schooling at District #34 in Garden County,
Nebraska and later received her GED. Norma was employed at Goodall electric for
three years.
On August 1, 1954 Norma married Walter Brott at St. Johns Lutheran Church,
southeast of Ogallala. The couple lived north of Roscoe. Norma was employed at
the Skelly Station at Roscoe for one year and then at Grampy's restaurant for
eight and a half years. She also worked for Gene Mitchell for two years and at
the Ogallala Livestock Cafe for two years besides farming with her husband.
She is a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church. Norma was a member of the RSVP and
has served as a volunteer for the bloodmobile and Meals on Wheels. Hobbies
included cooking, baking, playing cards, using computer, and reading novels.
Preceding her in death were her parents, brothers Bob, Bill, and Jack; and
sisters: Grace, May, and Delores.
Survivors include her husband Walter Brott of Ogallala and three daughters:
Teresa (Ken) Thompson of North Platte; Beverly (Merlin) Rapp of Paxton; and
Bonnie (Gary) Wong of Lake Grove, New York. One brother: Joe (Charlene) Starkey
of Colo. Springs, Colo. Four sisters: Ethel Hale of Kingsport, Tenn., Daisy
Richardson of Grand Island, Nebr., Patsy Kershaw of Colo. Springs, Colo.; and
Faye (Jerry) Brown of Grand Island, Nebr. Sister-in-law Clytie Starkey of
Minatare.
Eight grandchildren: Kerri Rapp, Jon Rapp, Jenilee Rapp, Mathew Thompson, Shawn
Thompson, Aaron French, Brandon French, and Cortney French and three
great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Thursday, July 7, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. in Draucker Funeral
Home.
The funeral service will be Friday, July 8, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Johns Lutheran
Church, southeast of Ogallala, with Rev. Robert Pierce officiating.
The family requests memorials to the American Cancer Society or to St. Johns
Lutheran Church. Interment is in St. Johns Lutheran Cemetery. Online Condolences
