Funeral Announcement
Eleanor Ruzanic, 89, lifetime Ogallala resident, died July 19, 2011, at Indian
Hills Manor.
Eleanor was born April 5, 1922 in Ogallala, the daughter of Ernest and Ruth
Davison Roe. She was raised in Ogallala with the exception of four years when
she and her family resided in a sod house in Wyoming. After her dad passed away
at an early age Eleanor was raised largely by her grandparents in Ogallala.
After graduating from Ogallala High School she attended St. Paul School of
Business in St. Paul, Nebraska. Eleanor then traveled to Washington DC where she
lived for a year during World War II. She was employed at the War Office in
charge of strategic metals. During this time she met John Ruzanic and they were
married on September 17, 1943. They were married in the Ruzanic family home in
Pittsburgh, Penn., and then returned to Ogallala where they made their home and
raised two sons.
Eleanor worked for Riedesel and Johnson Abstract Company for a few years and
then began employment as the business manager of the Ogallala Medical Clinic
where she worked for thirty-three years.
She was a life time member of the Methodist Church where she enjoyed singing in
the choir in her younger years. She was beloved by many and was devoted to her
family. She took special pleasure being a grandmother.
Preceding her in death were her parents, husband John Ruzanic in 1996,
daughter-in-law Dorothy Davis, sister Madeline Aufdengarten and an infant
brother and sister.
Survivors include her sons, Art Ruzanic and his wife Beccy of Sartell, Minn. and
Rod Ruzanic of Ogallala and four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Cremation was chosen by the family and there will be no visitation. The Memorial
Service will be Saturday, July 23, at 10 a.m. in the First United Methodist
Church with Rev. Chuck Rager officiating.
Inurnment is in the Ogallala Cemetery. A memorial has been established to Indian
Hills Manor.
