OBITUARY
Charles "Chuck" Coffman, 77, longtime Ogallala resident, died Saturday, July 2,
2011 in the Ogallala Community Hospital.

Chuck was born July 28, 1933 in Yuma, Colorado, the son of Jay and Violet
Crabtree Coffman. He graduated from high school there.
He started working for Massey Ferguson at the age of 17. On December 10, 1953
Chuck was drafted into the
Army and served in Japan. After being discharged
on November 23, 1955 he returned to work for Massey.
In 1957 Chuck married Judy Sexton in Denver, Colo. The couple lived in Montrose,
Colorado and later in Lingle, Wyoming. They then bought a farm near Veteran,
Wyoming and raised their three children. Judy and Chuck divorced in 1975.
Chuck later moved to Ogallala still with Massey Ferguson and in 1977 retired
after 30 years of service.
He met the love of his life, Donna Johnson, in 1983 at the grocery store. They
have been forever together since. He moved to his beloved Lake McConaughy in
1998.
Besides being employed at Massey Ferguson, Chuck sold real estate, insurance,
and cars prior to educating himself to be a locksmith. He loved to tinker, so
this fit him well. Known as the "key man," he continued to locksmith until
becoming ill. He enjoyed being in the work force and being around people. Chuck
was a member of the Elks and was the Exalted Ruler in the Torrington, Wyoming
chapter and was a fifty year member. In Ogallala he belonged to the Drovers, the
Moose Lodge, the Big Mac Sports Club, and the American Legion Post #135.
Preceding him in death were his parents and a brother Robert Coffman.
Survivors include the love of his life, Donna Johnson of Ogallala; sons Ross
Coffman and his wife Leann of Townsend, Montana and R. Scott Coffman of
Torrington, Wyoming; and daughter Lynn Robinson of Torrington, Wyoming. Also six
grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren and many friends.
There will be no visitation. A Celebration of Life and gathering of friends will
be Saturday, August 6, 2011, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Ogallala Moose Lodge. A
memorial has been established to the Youth Fishing Program of the Nebr. Game and
