OBITUARY
Joe Lanford, 76, longtime Ogallala
resident, died June 21, 2011 at his home.

Joe was born February 6, 1935 at Clayton, New Mexico, the son of Frank and
Delfina (Maes) Lanford. He received his education at the Brighton Public School
in Brighton, Colo.
On November 5, 1955, Joe married Myrna Apodaca in Denver, Colo. The couple
resided in Denver. In 1974 Joe and Myrna moved to Ogallala. In November 1974 Joe
went to work for Burlington Northern Railroad as a section man. He retired in
1993.
Joe was a member of St. Lukes Catholic Church in Ogallala. He enjoyed working in
his yard.
Preceding him in death were his parents, son Christopher J. Lanford, and
brothers Frank Lanford, Steve Lanford, and Gilbert Lanford.
Survivors include his wife Myrna Lanford of Ogallala; four daughters: Joette and
her husband Enrique Garcia of Saginaw, Mich.; Debra and her husband Mark Helmuth
of Ogallala; Sharen and her husband John Carraras of Norfolk; and Karen Torrez
of Lincoln. One son Ruben Lanford of Lincoln. Also one sister Mary Ann Vera and
one brother Richard Lanford, both of Denver, Colo. Joe has twenty grandchildren
and 28 great-grandchildren.
There will be no visitation. Memorial Services will be Friday, July 1, at 11
a.m. in St. Augustine Catholic Church of Brighton, Colo. The graveside service
will be Saturday, July 2, at 11 a.m. in the Ogallala Cemetery with Father Bryan
Ernest officiating.
