OBITUARY
Lucy Marie Dunwoody Ward, 83,of Ogallala, died Friday, May 20, 2011 in the
Ogallala Community Hospital.
Lucy was born March 1, 1928 to Jim and Sylvia Taylor Dunwoody at Kimball. The
family moved to Ogallala where she attended grade school and high school.
On December 29, 1963 she married Joe Ward at Burley Lake, Idaho. She worked as a
waitress for 22 years and managed a Bob's Big Boy restaurant in South Lake
Tahoe, Cal., for five years. For eight years, the Wards were traveling relief
motel managers.
Since moving back to Ogallala in 2004, Lucy enjoyed spending time with friends
at the Keith County Senior Center. She was a member of the American Legion
Auxiliary for fifty years. She was active in the Eastern Star and in 1978 was
named Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star at South Lake Tahoe, Cal.
Preceding her in death was her husband Joe in 2004, her parents, two brothers
Jimmy Dunwoody and Jack Dunwoody.
Survivors include a daughter Connie S. and her husband Jim Akins of Keystone;
and a son Bernard "Billy" Duffey, of Victoria, British Columbia; Three
granddaughters, Sylvia Marie Brown of St. Helens, Wash.; Billie Jo Tobin and
Sabrina Lynn Sandoval, both of Lincoln. Also seven great-grandchildren. Six
cousins, Dwayne Dunwoody and his wife Lois and Leota Schnell, all of Keystone;
Larry Dunwoody, Dennis Dunwoody, Sandy Kelley and her husband Omer, and Gary
Bush and his wife Vicky, all of Ogallala.
The family has requested no visitation. The memorial service will be Saturday,
May 28, at 10 a.m. in Draucker Funeral Home with Pastor Duane Dunwoody
officiating. A memorial has been established in her name. Online Condolences may
