 OBITUARY

Wilbert Sizer, 72, businessman and lifelong Arthur County resident, died December 4, 2010 in University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.

Wilbert Henry Sizer was born January 31, 1938 in Tryon, the son of Robert and Eva Crouse Sizer. He lived primarily at Calora in Arthur County, spending the last year in the village of Arthur, Nebraska. Wilbert began operating the family ranch at a young age. He served a full term in the Nebraska National Guard  where he worked as a tracked vehicle mechanic.

On August 8, 1964 Wilbert married Virginia Lee Greenly in Bridgeport. Together they had three children. Wilbert and Virginia owned and operated the family ranch and Sizer Tree Farm for over 40 years. They sold trees around the region and he became known as "the tree man." Each year he volunteered his time demonstrating his saw-mill to the fourth graders at the Indian Summer Rendezvous in Ogallala.

Wilbert grew up attending Seventh Day Brethren Church. He was a charter member of the Arthur Lions Club, an avid collector of memorabilia, and loved attending auctions.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife Virginia Sizer of Arthur, one son Greg (Carmen) Sizer of Arthur; two daughters: Ellie Sizer of Central City and Evanna (Dave) Hardin of Cheyenne, WY. Four brothers: Harold Sizer of Brandon, FL; Dave (Karen) Sizer of Arthur; Jim (Kathy) Sizer of Ogallala; and John (Linda) Sizer of Lemoyne.
