 OBITUARY

 
Marion "Nibs" Walburn, 71, longtime Ogallala resident and businessman, died April 20, 2010 at Bryan LGH East Hospital in Lincoln.

Nibs was born July 24, 1938 in Blue Hill, NE., the son of Virgil and Myrtle Hudson Walburn. He attended school in Blue Hill,
graduating in 1956.

On June 4, 1958 Nibs married Mavis Boucher in Clinton, IA. The couple made their home in Blue Island, IL. where Nibs worked
for Electro Motive Division of General Motors. In 1959 they moved to Blue Hill, NE. and Nibs worked for the public schools system.

In 1963 the family moved to Ogallala and Nibs worked for Natural Gas Distributing/KN Energy. In 1973 he started his carpet
cleaning business. Nibs retired from KN Energy in 1995 and retired from the cleaning business in 2000.

He was a firefighter, serving the Ogallala Fire Department for more than nineteen years and was inducted in the Hall of Fame in 2007. He was a long time member of the Optimist Club and the Eagles Club. Nibs enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards, and going to ball games.

Preceding him in death was his wife, son Roger, and his brother Virgil Walburn.

Survivors include his daughter Malisa (Marty) O'Neail of Paxton, son Wayne Walburn of LaHabra, CA., daughter-in-law Cara Walburn of LaHabra, CA., longtime special friend Marge O'Hara of Ogallala. Grandchildren: Megan & Mathew O'Neail of Paxton, and Holly, Toni, Wesley, and Desiree Walburn of LaHabra, CA. and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Friday, April 30, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Draucker Funeral Home. A Memorial Service will be Saturday, May 1, at 10 a.m. in Draucker Funeral Home. Rev. Eric Wait of the New Hope Church will officiate. A memorial has been established in his memory.

Inurnment in the Ogallala Cemetery.
