OBITUARY
Margery Grim, 92, of Ogallala, died Tuesday,
January 26, 2010 in Golden Ours Convalescent Home in Grant, NE.
Margery Edith Watts was born October 13, 1917 in Cedar Rapids, NE., the daughter
of James and Martha Johnson
Watts. She attended school at Cedar Rapids but
completed her education at Ansley High School, graduating with the class of
1935.
Margery was active in vocal music and competed in many music contests. She was
the first Honored Queen of Ansley Bethel of Jobs Daughters. After completing
Normal Training she taught two years in rural Custer County and then worked as a
medical assistant for Dr. Clyde W. Wilcox.
On May 4, 1938 Margery married her high school sweetheart Delbert Grim at Grand
Island and the couple made their first home in Ansley. They were the parents of
two daughters, Barbara and Sharon. The couple also lived in Lincoln and Grand
Island, before moving to Ogallala in 1989. Margery and Delbert enjoyed 70 years
of marriage.
Margery was a seventy-three year member of and a Past Matron of the Order of the
Eastern Star
. She was active in the Ogallala Christian Women's Club and a member
of the Ogallala First United Methodist Church. Her hobbies included cooking and
baking, reading, and playing bridge. She enjoyed music of all kinds.
Preceding her in death were her parents, husband
Delbert, brother Dr. J. Harvey
Watts III, son-in-law Rod Samp, and great-grandson Matthew Juengel.
Survivors include two daughters Barbara (LeRoy) Juengel of Lincoln and Sharon
Samp of Brule. Four grandsons: Rick (Nancy) Samp and Mike (Melissa) Samp, all of
Laramie, WY; Doug (Lindsay) Samp of Loup City and Jim Juengel of Lincoln. Also
ten great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation will be Thursday, January 28, from 1 to 6 p.m. at Draucker Funeral
Home.
Funeral Service will be Friday, January 29, at 10 a.m. in First United Methodist
Church of Ogallala. Rev. James Miller will officiate.
Funeral Rites will be given by the Order of Eastern Star #142.
Memorials may be directed to the First United Methodist Church and to the Brule
Rescue Squad.
