OBITUARY
Lynn Howard McGaha, 74, of Brule, NE., died April 8, 2010 at Linden Court in
North Platte, NE.
Lynn was born October 7, 1935 at Dunns Rock, NC, the son of Arthur and Beatrice
(Henderson) McGaha. He attended schools in Dunns Rock and Brevard, NC and
participated in high school football and debating. After graduating from Brevard
High School in 1954, he enlisted in the
US Air Force. His eight years of service included
time as a radar instructor.
On June 10, 1955, while in the service, he married Sue Smith of Ft. Collins, CO
in LaPorte, CO. He was discharged
in 1962 after being stationed at Lowry AFB in CO. He then attended Colorado
State University in the electrical engineering program.
In 1963 Lynn started 26 years of employment with Mountain Bell Telelphone Co.
(later becoming Qwest) in Colorado, starting as an aerial lineman. After
promotion to management, he oversaw material warehouses and safety programs and
later managed IT projects. He resided in Sterling, Black Forest, and the Denver
area of Colorado during that time.
In support of his sons' activities, Lynn was a Boy Scout scoutmaster and assumed
a leadership role in the Sports Riders Association of Colorado.
On May 24, 1986 he married Lynn Van
Voorhies French in Camp Greenville, SC. In 1991 they moved to Lake McConaughy and built their own home. He enjoyed maintaining the roads and
acreage with his tractor, handyman activities, gazing out on Lake McConaughy
from his deck, and time with his wife, horses, and dogs. Lynn attended Lewellen
United Methodist Church.
Preceding him in death were his parents, his son and daughter-in-law Tyler and
Terry McGaha, and half-brothers.
Survivors include his wife Lynn E. McGaha of Brule, NE; a son Richard McGaha;
two grandchildren: Scott and Kelsy McGaha, all of Littleton, CO; two brothers:
Arthur Eugene, Jr. (Jenny) McGaha and Joseph R., Sr. (Gail) McGaha, all of
Brevard, NC; a sister Evelyn Orr of Etowah, NC; and numerous nieces, nephews,
and other relatives.
Cremation was chosen and there will be no visitation. A memorial service will be
Saturday, April 24, 2010, at Noon in the Lewellen, NE., United Methodist Church.
Pastor Ray Weinerman will officiate. A memorial has been established to the

A graveside committal service will be
held Tuesday, May 18 at 10 a.m. in the
Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Black
Mountain, NC. Pastor G. Keith Parker will officiate.
