OBITUARY
Henry R. Christensen, 82, longtime Big Springs farmer, died Saturday, November
13, 2010 at Indian Hills Manor in Ogallala.

Henry Russell Christensen was born June 5, 1928 in Fremont, Nebr., the son of Ed
C. and Louise Jacobsen Christensen. He attended school at Fremont.
He entered the US Army in 1955 and was discharged with honors in 1957. Sixteen
of those months were served in Korea.
He then farmed with his father and brothers in the Fremont, Chappell, and Big
Springs areas. In the winter months Henry drove a semi-truck for Super Sweet
Feeds of Fremont and also hauled grain with his brother Glenn. He met his
sweetheart Lorrie Stickley and they were married November 3, 1963 in Ogallala.
They celebrated their 47th anniversary this year. The couple lived in the Big
Springs area since 1964.
Henry was a member of Zion Lutheran Church of Big Springs. He enjoyed being in
the farming business and playing cards with family and friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents, two sisters Evelyn and Ethel and twelve
brothers: Sterling, Harvey, Ervin, Gilbert, Seymour, Ray, Eddie, Warren, Paul,
Glenn, Elwood, and Manley; five sisters-in-law: Evelyn, Inez, Marie, Linda
Christensen and Jean Gaeth.
Survivors include his wife Lorrie Christensen and one son Dayton (Jodi)
Christensen, all of Big Springs; two daughters: Janelle (Dan) Kline of Lone
Tree, CO and Carrie (Sean) Holland of Littleton, CO. One sister Edith Stuenkel
and three brothers: Emmett Christensen and Allen Christensen, all of Fremont and
Rudy Christensen of Hooper. Six sisters-in-law: Alice Christensen, Virginia
Wells, and Sharon McGuire, all of Fremont, Hilda Christensen of Big Bear, CA;
Norlie Hodge of Sun City AZ; Janice McGowan of North Platte. Eight
grandchildren: Nathan, Levi, and Adam Lake of Aurora, CO; Mitchell, Brooke,
Wyatt and Colt Holland of Littleton, CO; and Cameron Christensen of Big Springs.
Three step-grandchildren: Ashley Kline of Arvada, CO; Christopher (Heather)
Kline of Denver, CO; and Angela (Patrick) Gallagher of Westminster, CO; and one
step-great-grandson Brian Kline of Arvada, CO. Also many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Tuesday, November 16, from 1 to 5 p.m. in Zion Lutheran
Church in Big Springs. The Funeral Service will be Wednesday, November 17,at
10:30 a.m., in Zion Lutheran Church with Rev. Trenton D. Christensen
officiating.
A memorial has been established to Zion Lutheran Church and the Big Springs
Ambulance Squad. Interment is in the Big Springs Cemetery with military honors
by Nebraska National Guard Military Funeral Honor Guard.
