 OBITUARY

 
Adeline McBride, 83, longtime Brule resident, died April 19, 2010 at her home. 

Adeline Anna Westerbuhr McBride was born November 26, 1926 at Brule, NE., the daughter of Focke and Anna Harms Westerbuhr.

Adeline received her early schooling at District 31 near Brule. After fourth grade she attended Brule Public Schools, graduating from Brule High School in 1944. She was fortunate to then attend Business College in Denver, CO.

Adeline married George Clifford McBride on February 16, 1947 at Ogallala, NE. The couple resided on their farm south of Brule where Adeline was engaged in farming with her husband. She was a newspaper correspondent for the Keith County News for thirteen years, from 1982 to 1995. Adeline partially retired in 1995 and then began Addie's Attic in Brule where she sold crafts and gifts.

Mrs. McBride's hobbies included quilting and cooking. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church of Brule and an officer in the Lutheran Brotherhood.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, and her brother Elmer.

Survivors include a daughter Carol (Alan) Ostendorf of Broken Bow, and three sons: Robert McBride of Brule, William "Bill" (Nancy) McBride of Ogallala and Joe (Sheila) McBride of Brule. One brother Dale Westerbuhr of Kearney. A sister-in-law Margaret Westerbuhr of Brule. Grandchildren: Hillary Ostendorf of Kearney, Spencer Olson and Brett Olson, both of Columbus. Angela (Adam) Carriker of St. Louis, MO. and Philip (Shannon) McBride, of Omaha. Scott McBride of Lincoln. Tonia (Alan) Smallwood of Colo. Springs, CO. Michael (Gwyn) McBride of SC, currently stationed in Afghanistan. Theresa (Ryan) Berlage of Frisco, TX.. Susan Krab and Jeff ( Angela) McBride, all of Ogallala. . Ten great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be on Thursday, April 22 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Friday, April 23 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Draucker Funeral Home.

Funeral Service will be Saturday, April 24, at 10 a.m. in St. John's Lutheran Church of Brule with Rev. Jon Dickmander officiating.
